It’s completely okay if the idea or concept is simple. I personally encourage this for anyone and everyone, since then you’re able to give more time to technique and details rather than getting the basic pieces on the paper. I’ve dealt with that too many times, Lol. Don’t listen to a show, movie or Youtube video while you’re working; your eyes are supposed to be on thing you want precise lines on. Many people make podcasts and audio books (its also a very good way to catch up on your reading for English). Even if you want to be in the dark, have the lights on or be in front of a window with the blinds open to make sure your colors won’t be dark and desaturated due to the lighting. I’m still sad at my somewhat favorite painting because of this.
